MARGARITAVILLE RESORT BILOXI Margaritaville returns to Biloxi in late spring — this time as a tropical resort and indoor-outdoor playground complete with the first indoor zip-line roller coaster, golf simulators, bowling, ropes courses for adults and kids, a four-story volcano rock climbing wall and a lazy river. The former Casino Magic resort will be transformed with 373 rooms, 83 suites and a variety of restaurants.
BILOXI — Signs on the under-construction Margaritaville Resort Biloxi say it’s time to hire 600 enthusiastic people to staff the hotel, restaurants, zip line roller coaster and other attractions before the June opening.
A job fair starts from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and continues from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 2-3 at the Biloxi Civic Center at 578 Howard Ave., Biloxi.
Those who can’t attend the job fair can send their resume to [email protected]
Applicants should bring a resume and be aware that Margaritaville is a drug-free workplace. Openings are available in all areas of the resort, including hotel, retail, food and beverage and recreation. Among the positions are front desk agents and supervisors, concierge, housekeeping, valet, security, water park attendants, restaurant hosts, servers, busers, bartenders, line and prep cooks, dishwashers and retail associates and supervisors.
Unlike any other resort in South Mississippi, it will have a 55,000-square-foot Escape Family Entertainment Center filled with 200 games, Sky Trail Ropes Adventure Course for adults and kids and The Cloud Coaster, described as part zip line, part flying roller coaster.
“It’s already done,” Cono Caranna with Barrington Development said of the Cloud Coaster, and technicians will be coming back to test it.
Workers also are putting the finishing touches on a towering volcano climbing wall, two golf simulators that also offer 10 other sports, six lanes of mini-bowling and the resort pool with water slides, lazy river and kids’ splash pad.
The resort is under new owners and management than those who operated the previous Margaritaville casino franchise in Biloxi.
Barrington Development, the same company that restored the White House Hotel into a luxury resort, is transforming the former Casino Magic at 195 Beach Blvd. into a family destination.
The island-style look and feel of the resort are inspired by the lyrics and lifestyle of singer, songwriter, author and Pascagoula native Jimmy Buffett.
His signature Margaritaville Cafe, 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar and Land Shark’s Bar & Grill, will be joined by Doe’s Eat Place, a James Beard award-winning steakhouse known for hand-cut porterhouse steaks and their hot tamales.
The 373 rooms and suites can be reserved on the Margaritaville Resort Biloxi website.
